Sharon has experience working in both the Northern Ireland State Broadcaster BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio Foyle. While training with the BBC, she also worked for local Irish station, Highland Radio, transitioning through multiple roles as producer and programme assistant. After 10 years working in radio in Ireland, she went on to study and work in IT and project management upon arriving in Melbourne 10 years ago.
Sharon is re-training, and following her media passions, by completing RTI’s Advanced Radio Course and a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University. She has a diverse skill set, and a passion for radio producing.
In her capacity as Director News and Content for RTI FM Sharon says that,
“Producing a good radio programme may seem like a relatively simple task, but in reality it requires a great deal of thought and effort to provide listeners with something they will both spend the time to listen to and remember. Dictating what listeners will expect and accept varies and much can be learned from different methods and mistakes. Radio is a crucial tool in introducing and updating listeners on important issues of the day.”
